written for Lisa Seretny
The most recent addition to my exercise regime is attempting to find the means back into a weekly yoga practice. However, this has not been nearly as simple an ask as I have either hoped or been capable of. Inner ear issues are the latest challenge to overcome.
However, a chance meeting with Lisa when I was literally sitting on the Gym floor started a series of events that culminated in a sequence of poetry that I can’t reproduce here because it’s currently out for submission as part of a new pamphlet.
This new poem illuminates (for those astrologically minded) why my life can be seen, in a certain light, as a perpetual battle to find peace and balance. There’s also some home truths in here too. Lisa has proven very capable of not only helping me relax, but showing me where my healing journey really needs to be focussed.
Celestial Alignment
'you’re a Scorpio by 13 minutes',
the astrologer informs me
with barely contained glee
'so much of your future life will be
transition and often confusion...'
is that why it takes 20 years
to accept the problem was that day when you were 3 why none of the sharp terror
will add up or can be thrown away
the sums stay easier to ignore numbers
were always hard but there’s 4 to balance now
kids' paths must not be scarred
it takes until somewhere between your
youngest’s 4th and your 43rd
for fear’s spell to be unspoken
though another 10 years must then pass
before the brain is capable or confident of asking
for conjunction for yourself
as finally the problems can be sorted
never fixed 20 lines is all you need
to concede all this might work
unexpectedly this is the space that it switches
it all restarts redrawing charts
a better path for this 1 time on earth
